Signs of Labor

Signs of Labor

  • Contractions become progressively stronger and closer together
  • The contractions occur regularly about every 5 minutes for a duration of more than 2 hours
  • The contractions are felt throughout the abdomen, not just at the top of the uterus
  • The contractions do not decrease with rest or hydration
  • Bleeding, a gush of fluid (like your water broke) or a decrease in the baby’s movements should also prompt an immediate call to the office or hospital evaluation
